Blueberry Cacao & Tocos Smoothie

I will gladly admit here that I have made much more beautiful smoothies in my day, but none taste nearly as good as this blueberry cacao recipe. My chocolate-obsessed husband asks for this smoothie at least a few days a week and, when we get really tired of super green smoothies but still want our fix of leafy greens, this is our go-to. It is filling (especially if you add a protein powder, which we usually do) and sweet but not overly so, and is a nice break from typical smoothie recipes you may find elsewhere.

I fell in love with tocos (short for tocotrienols) nearly a year ago after diving deep into the benefits of elevated superfoods and haven’t looked back since. I knew tocos was special and something I wanted to incorporate into my daily routine after giving it a few tries, but it wasn’t until I was away from home for two weeks during the holidays that I realized just how good it makes me (and my skin in particular) feel. There is a lot of research on the benefits of tocos, but let me break it down for you here just a bit:

What is tocos?: Sun Potion Tocos is a creamy powder derived from the outer layer of a developing rice plant responsible for providing all of the essential vitamins and minerals necessary to form a healthy crop.

What does tocos contain?: Tocos is a super concentrated form of vitamin E (incredible for your skin and connective tissue), vitamin D (assists in the body’s absorption of essential minerals), and antioxidants (help to fight free radicals and strengthen the immune system).

Why should I consume tocos?: First of all, tocos is delicious and I don’t say that lightly. It sort of tastes like vanilla ice cream in powder form which not only adds a delicious flavor to this smoothie recipe but also makes it easy to consume on it’s own by the spoonful. Tocos has been linked to improved skin tone for those that struggle with acne, rosacea or other skin conditions as well as muscle function. There is also a lot of research currently underway that link tocos to helping with the removal of environmental toxins from the body, so if you live in a city where you’re constantly surrounded by car fumes, smog, etc. this should be something to consider taking on a daily basis!
